Reasons for having a Kenalog injection.

If you suffer with severe hayfever that is resistant to conventional treatments such as anti-histamine tablets, nasal sprays and eye drops the Kenalog injection can relieve your symptoms for an entire season. Occasionally a second dose of Kenalog may be needed.

What is a Kenalog injection?

Each Kenalog injection contains Triamcinolone acetonide 40mg/1ml as the active ingredient. Triamcinolone acetonide belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids (steroids). The principal effect of corticosteroids is a reduce the body's inflammatory and allergic response. A Kenalog injection does not cure hayfever it just temporarily suppresses the immume system enough to take away the symptoms in most people who need it.

What does the procedure involve? 

Kenalog is an injection that is injected into the buttock (gluteal) muscle known as an intramusular (IM) injection. It takes a few seconds and is not a very painful injections as the substance itself is not irritating to the tissue.

Is there an age restriction? 

The Kenalog injection is only available for over 18 years old.
